[Pike’s Peak Mule]

A cabinet card photogaph of a Pike’s Peak mule bearing a sign reading: “I Helped to Build Pikes Peak Rail!” The mule is loaded down with a crate of explosives, a variety of axes, shovels, a can of water or gas, and more. The Pike’s Peak railroad was under construction from 1889 to 1891. Numbered “37” in the negative along with an inscrutable signature or scribble.

CONDITION: Very good, with toning in the margins and on verso of mount, light bumping to rounded-off corners, strong tonality.
