First edition. An appealing and informative guide book to the early history and circa 1880 life of Nantucket. The first map is entitled “Historical Map of Nantucket. Surveyed and Drawn by The Rev. F. C. Ewer, D. D., 1869.” Includes topographic features, town and other names, roads, Boundaries of Surveyed Sections, Boundaries of Ancient Sachem Rights (with labels for Sachem Autopscot, Wanackmamack, Potconet and more); also with historical timelines for the Seventeenth Century, Eighteenth Century and Nineteenth Century. The second map is entitled “New Map of the Streets of Nantucket, Mass. with Location of Public Buildings and Places of Interest. From Designs by E. K. Godfrey, 1882”, including cemeteries, the oldest house, Alms House, etc.

CONDITION: Good with wear at extremities, covers lightly soiled, light toning to margins; 1st. map with brittle leaf with two 6 cm and 2 cm separations at folds, 2nd map clean and sound.
