First edition of this short biography of the writer Anne Gilchrist emphasizing her friendship with Whitman, as well as other significant literary figures. With a fine photogravure frontispiece portrait of Whitman printed by A.W. Elson & Co., Boston after a photograph by Frederick Gutekunst. Elson & Co. turned out some of the best commercial photogravures of the period.

CONDITION: Very good, touch of wear at corners and edges.
