John S. Mundorf was a stationer, bookseller, and proprietor of a news and magazine subscription agency in York, Pennsylvania. Most of his offerings are from the New York Popular Publishing Company at 37 Bond St., and include such instructive, inspiring, and useful volumes as: Dick’s Policy Dream Book and Wheel of Fortune (including “the true Interpretations of Dreams, also the Numbers of the Lottery to which they apply”); Bashfulness Cured, How to Woo and Win; Pat Rooney’s Joker, (“containing a large and most excellent collection of Irish Jokes”); and The Life of P. T. Barnum with His Great Lectures on Rules for Making Money. Most of the books advertised here would have been brightly hand colored and many are rare today.
