A Statistical View of the District of Maine; More Especially with Reference to the Value and Importance of the Interior.

Boston: Published by Cummings and Hilliard, at the Boston Bookstore, No. 1, Cornhill, 1816. 8vo, original blue paper-covered boards and white paper spine. 154 pp. Early ink daye of 1816 at head of upper cover.

In this “Statistical View,” published as a companion volume to his seminal Map of the District of Maine, Greenleaf attempted to provide a geographic and economic overview of Maine, which at the time remained a district of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Greenleaf focused on the interior portion of the District, believing it to be poorly understood and of great potential benefit to Massachusetts.
