Without the tail-piece of Twain’s head on pg. 441 and with the caption on pg. 443 reading “The St. Charles Hotel.” Twain’s memoir of his pre-Civil War life as a boy and steamboat pilot on the Mississippi, combined with an account of his post-war return to the river and the changes he found.
