According to editor Paul Baender, when composing Roughing It Twain “incorporated several passages from letters to the Sacramento Union (1866), from sketches in the Buffalo Express (1869–1870), and from a sketch in the Galaxy (1871).” The sketches from the Buffalo Express constitute the text found in “The Pacific Coast” section of this volume. OCLC records only five copies held in libraries worldwide, with just one copy in the U.S, at UC Berkley. Not in Johnson or BAL. REFERENCES: Rasmusen, R. Kent.
